A little about Kits Nursery
An independent Cornish nursery built from a love of plants, gardens and growing.
It started with a few plants...
Kits Nursery began in 2019 when we started growing plants for our own landscaping projects.
What began as a practical way of sourcing the plants we needed soon grew into something much bigger.
Today, Kits is an independent nursery supplying locally grown plants to home gardeners, trade customers and landscaping projects, alongside garden design, planting plans and soft landscaping.
We're still very much a hands-on family business, and our love of plants, gardens and growing is at the heart of everything we do.
The people behind Kits
Stephen
Stephen has worked in landscaping since 1999, after studying Garden Design and Plantmanship at Rosewarne College.
With decades of practical experience in garden design, planting and landscaping, his knowledge of plants and how they work within a space is a huge part of Kits today.
Lucy
From proper Cornish roots, Lucy works alongside Stephen running the nursery and keeping everything moving behind the scenes.
From growing and caring for the plants to helping customers find what they need, Lucy is at the heart of day-to-day life at Kits and is now bringing the newest part of the business, Kits Nursery Event Hire, to life.
So, who is Kit?
There's a little bit of family history behind the name.
Kits Nursery is named after Lucy's Great Aunty Kit, who was from Porth near Newquay and was, by all accounts, quite a character!
With our own roots firmly in Cornwall, it felt right that the nursery should carry a name with a story and a connection to home.
Our plants have travelled a little further than the nursery gates over the years.
We've had the opportunity to supply plants to designer Jeremy Hastings for his water feature stands at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on two occasions, as well as helping with the stand itself.
Closer to home, our plants have also picked up awards at the Cornwall Spring Flower Show and Royal Cornwall Show.
For us, it's always lovely to see something grown here in Cornwall become part of a garden, show or project somewhere new!

It's a personal approach that's been part of Kits from the beginning, and one we intend to keep as we grow.
Still growing...
Kits has changed a lot since those first plants were grown in 2019, and we're not finished yet.
Alongside the nursery, garden design and landscaping, we're continuing to explore new ways to share what we grow, including Kits Nursery Event Hire, bringing real plants and trees to weddings and events across Cornwall.
Whatever comes next, plants will always be at the centre of it.
